Please help Find These Stolen Quilts

This plea comes from a quilter at AOL. If you have any information please contact MMcdonn105@aol.com.

Dear Friends of Fabric

I hope someone out there can help me. In September I sent two quilt tops to Pennsylvania to be hand quilted by the Amish. They never arrived. Since I had insured them for quite a bit, I'm sure someone helped himself to them. I spent six years making them by hand. One, a brown and beige clam shell quilt with a "pebble" of beige clams flowing down through it, was to be a gift for my son. The other, hand embroidered and embellished faces of all our presidents (in navy) was to be a gift to my school. I'm absolutely heartbroken about this and appeal to anyone out there who might spot one or both in a gallery, shop, or flea market. Since each was one of a kind, both should be easy to recognize.

I thank anyone with an eagle eye. Please contact me here through e-mail, and let me know where. They could be anywhere from here in Arizona to Lancaster, PA.

Thanks---Margot (MMcdonn105)

Quilt Descriptions

Unfortunately, I never take pictures of a quilt until it's finished, so I can't send a picture, but I can describe them a little more fully.

The president's quilt has all of the heads embroidered in navy and includes on the white block the dates of office, number of the president, and his signature. There are 49 blocks. Starting from the top left, seven blocks progress diagonally to the bottom right. The top block is made up of an old flag, the second, an eagle print, the third I can't remember, the fourth or middle the seal of the U.S. embroidered. The others include a crazy quilt of red, white, and blue, a donkey and elephant block, and at the bottom right is an Ohio star with 1996 embroidered around it. The sashing is done in red and white stripes with stars in it--it's a large queen-sized quilt.

The other clam shell quilt is all in beiges, browns, ecrus, and rusts. A pebbly bunch of shells sort of drifts through the middle rnadomly. The rest of the shells have many different designs in them, including lots of Southwestern materials and plaids taken from men's shirts bought in thrift stores. The material around the quilt is rust with tiny white dots in it.

Thanks so much for your concern. I appreciate it!

Margot
