Stolen Quilt Blocks

From a notice received dated April 4th, 1998

Most notable among the several reported shop lifting incidents at last week-ends QUILT BLOSSOM SHOW at the Continental Inn in LANCASTER was a group of (25) HAND APPLIQUED QUILT BLOCKS, stolen from inside the booth of GEORGIA FREIS' BELLWETHER DRY GOODS on Saturday, April 4th, 1998. These 8-inch blocks were recently completed from Jea nna Kimball's book, "Old Voices - New Impressions," using a soft brown print as background fabric and hundreds of warm colors and "BRIGHTS" for the appliqued birds and flowers.

Unfortunately, as of April 6th, they were still missing. The blocks are exquisitely appliqued and will be easily recognized in a piece as stolen hand work. More than a large monetarey loss is the complete lack of trust and the obvious necessity of increased vigilance at future shows.

These treasured blocks, ready to be pieced into a large quilt, had been stored in tissue paper in a pizza box under a skirted display table, but had been seen and admired by many show guests during the week-end. The blocks were grabbed and the empty box tossed back under the table.

PLEASE CALL GEORGINA FRIES at 410-867-0665....COLLECT....with any information which might lead to recovering these lost blocks.
